SOUP (software of unknown provenance) or an external service: a third-party component the system incorporates or depends on. The analysis states what the system requires of it (function, performance, availability and data protection) and the agreement that binds it, which for PHI is a business associate agreement. Each one is recorded as SOUP or as an external-system interface, with the reason.
