When does Queue print?
Queue uses the Printing app to produce chits — short, thermal-friendly slips that summarize a single waitlist entry. The most common triggers are:
- A guest is added to the waitlist (host-facing slip with party size, quoted wait, and joining time).
- A guest is called to the front (kitchen-facing or expo-facing slip with table number and notes).
- Manual print from the queue row action menu.
What's on a chit
Queue chits use the queue.chit template, which defaults to the Thermal 80mm printer class. A chit typically shows:
- Guest name and party size
- Quoted wait and actual join time
- Table number (if assigned)
- Special requests and accessibility notes
- A short reference code operators can read back to guests
Which printer does a job go to?
If the Queue user's site has a default printer registered in the Printing app, that printer is used automatically. If multiple printers exist, the operator can pick one per-job from the queue row action menu, or the site admin can set routing rules per printer_class.
If nothing prints
Open Printing > Jobs. Every Queue print lands there with a status badge — queued, rendering, sending, sent, or failed. Click into the job to see the exact error, download the rendered PDF, or reprint. See Troubleshooting print jobs for more.
