Constraint

A limit on the design that names its source (a contract, a regulation, a policy or a decision by a named role), gives its rationale and says whether it is negotiable. A preference is never written as a constraint. A mechanism, such as a named product or protocol, appears in an analysis only as a constraint with its source.
